- In fiscal year 2018, the WBG committed $67 billion in loans, grants, equity investments and guarantees to its members and private businesses, of which $24 billion was concessional finance to its poorest members.

- It is governed by 188-member countries and delivers services out of 120 offices with nearly 15,000 staff located globally.

- The WBG consists of five specialized institutions: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA), which together form the World Bank (WB); the International Finance Corporation (IFC); the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA); and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

- The WB is organized into six client-facing Regional Vice-Presidencies, several corporate functions, fourteen Global Practices and five Global Themes to bring best-in-class knowledge and solutions to regional and country clients.

- The WBG Strategy, endorsed by the Governors at the 2013 Annual Meetings, sets a framework to align all WBG activities and resources to the two goals of ending extreme poverty and building shared prosperity in a sustainable manner.

- MNC03 is the country department managing the Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti country programs.

- The WBG is a major development partner for all three countries.

- A rich program of knowledge and analytical work underpins our engagement in all three countries.

- In Egypt, the Country Partnership Framework was launched in December 2015 and more than doubles IBRD/IFC support to selected transformational programs in the country, with a strong focus on good governance, social inclusion and job creation.

- There is a strong emphasis on policy dialogue in many different areas, including macroeconomic, energy, business environment, regional development, education, health, agriculture, social protection, and transport.

- The current portfolio is over $8 bn.

- In Yemen, IDA is embarked upon an innovative engagement in a country in conflict, pushing the boundaries of development.

- Over the past year, more than $1 billion in IDA grants have been provided for emergency operations -through a partnership with the UN-to help preserve human and development assets in the country, along with preparations for recovery and reconstruction.

- The Country Engagement Note (CEN) provides a framework for our engagement.

- In Djibouti, the IDA-18 has provided a substantial increase to the IDA envelope given the emphasis on FCV.

- This is supported by significant leveraging of grant resources.

- There is a growing program to address social vulnerabilities and support enhanced governance.

- Recent projects include an innovative $20m program to support refugees and host communities under the regional Horn of Africa Initiative.

- The MNC03 program is managed out of the Egypt country office.

- The Egypt Country Office has about 80 staff and works as a regional hub for some other functions also.

- The Yemen program is headed by a Country Manager currently based in Amman (plans to move to Yemen when security situation permits).

- The Djibouti Country Office is headed by a Country Representative.

- The Country Director is based in Cairo.

- The Country Director is supported in Cairo by 3 Programs Leaders as well as Operations Manager and Senior Operations Officer.

- In addition, in HQ, the office includes a Senior Operations Officer, Country Officer and a Program Assistant.

- The Egypt Country Office is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Team Assistant to support a set of sectors, as well as for tasks associated to the Unit’s overall work program for which ad-hoc support may be needed from time to time.

- Roles and Responsibilities The selected candidate will be assigned to support a set of sectors, as well as for tasks associated to the Unit’s overall work program for which ad-hoc support may be needed from time to time.

- The Team Assistant will be expected to: Provide assistance at various levels in organizing meetings, conference calls, video conferences, workshops, conferences, including handling administrative and logistic arrangements, preparing and assembling meeting materials, sending out invitations, and follow-up Prepare, review, edit and format project documentation according to Bank and Regional guidelines, as well as maintain a coherent filing system ensuring that all projects documents are properly filed and referenced Participate in developing project/product time lines, using appropriate software Undertake ad hoc inquiries, investigate standard and non-standard databases, identify and research various sources of information, retrieve, manipulate and present data Respond and handle a wide-range of extensive and diverse inquiries, prioritizing and making decisions when multiple courses of action are possible and prepare correspondence on a range of topics Provide administrative support, organize and manage meeting schedules for task teams (and visiting missions before and while they are in country) Manage internal and external inquiries related to the status of projects in the absence of task team leader and team members Maintain current distribution lists, phone/address lists of project/product contacts, and distributes documents for the team Extract, monitor and report on disbursement data for active projects Organize and maintain filing system in WBDocs Process all travel requests for relevant consultants Drafts routine correspondence and proofreads materials using proper grammar, punctuation and style Record, disseminate and track all correspondences and minutes of meetings Coordinates schedules taking priorities into account, monitors changes, and communicates the information to appropriate staff inside and outside the immediate work unit, including officials outside the Bank Group Undertake ad-hoc assignments and provide support to other staff in the unit as required Selection Criteria Minimum education: High School degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
